About the position

AMMS is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Art Teacher for middle school students, who will play a crucial role in fostering students' appreciation for art and its historical and cultural significance. The ideal candidate will help students develop their artistic skills and confidence while collaborating with other teachers to deliver a comprehensive and engaging specials program. This position also involves contributing to after-school enrichment programs, making it an exciting opportunity to impact students' artistic journeys and prepare them for future academic challenges.

Responsibilities

• Teach art concepts and techniques to middle school students.
• Develop lesson plans that engage students in exploring various forms of art.
• Collaborate with Health/Phys. Ed. and Music Teachers to create a well-rounded specials program.
• Participate in after-school enrichment programs focused on art.
• Foster a supportive and safe environment for students to express their creativity.
• Engage with families and the community to support students' academic and social development.
• Continuously improve the quality of the art program through leadership and initiative.

Requirements

• Valid Indiana certification in elementary or secondary art education.
• Experience working with children in an educational setting.
• Strong command of best practices in art education.
• Excellent classroom management skills.
• Effective communication and writing skills.
• Ability to create a supportive environment for diverse student skill levels.
• Experience involving families and the community in educational activities.

Nice-to-haves

• 1 year of teaching experience (preferred).
