About the position

St. Anthony Catholic High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Art Teacher to join our faculty on a part-time basis. This role is integral to our mission of providing a college preparatory education rooted in Catholic values and traditions. The Art Teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing lesson plans that meet the curriculum requirements while accommodating the diverse learning styles of our students. The position requires a commitment to fostering an environment of honesty, integrity, community, service, social justice, scholarship, and holistic education. The Art Teacher will report directly to the School Principal and will work collaboratively with other faculty members to ensure that curriculum objectives are met. This includes preparing lessons that reflect the guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), as well as adhering to board policies and administrative regulations. The teacher will also conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through both formal and informal testing methods, helping students to analyze and improve their study habits and methods. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the Art Teacher will serve as an advisor to a group of 15-17 students, maintaining open communication with parents, students, and faculty. The role also involves participating in faculty meetings, staff development activities, and various school events, including evening parent meetings and community liturgies. The ideal candidate will possess an advanced understanding of teaching principles and the ability to create engaging assessments that accurately measure student learning.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the curriculum.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by TEA, board policies and administrative regulations.
  • Work cooperatively with administrators, department chairs, and other staff as needed to meet curriculum objectives.
  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Serve as an advisor to 15-17 students.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and Student handbook.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Assist in selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials.
  • Establish and maintain open communication through conferences with parents, students, principal and teachers.
  • Compile, maintain and file all physical and computerized reports, records and other documents.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Attend after school faculty meetings, evening parent meetings, monthly community liturgies, class retreats and open houses as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Art or related field.
  • Experience working with students at the high school level.
  • Advanced understanding of key principles of teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Ability to plan and deliver detailed and well thought out lessons with an understanding of learners' needs, utilizing an extensive range of teaching techniques.
  • Ability to create assessments that accurately measure students' learning.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.

Nice-to-haves

  • AP Certification.
  • Texas Teacher Certification.
  • Secondary school teaching experience.
