About the position

The Art Teacher (Pre K-8) at Confluence Academies is responsible for creating a flexible and engaging learning environment for elementary students. This role focuses on developing students' artistic skills and knowledge while fostering personal growth and effective communication with parents and staff. The teacher will implement district-approved curriculum, adapt lesson plans to meet individual student needs, and maintain a positive classroom atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches district approved curriculum when applicable.
  • Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional material, providing individualized and small group instruction.
  • Translates lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences promoting creativity and understanding of art.
  • Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom hours through newsletters, notes, phone calls, and conferences.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
  • Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
  • Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals, developing strategies for individual education plans.
  • Plans and coordinates the work of paraprofessionals, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
  • Creates an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers, and exhibits of students' work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Art degree in Art/Education.
  • Valid teaching certificate from D.E.S.E, State of Missouri, in Art, K-12.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistics, and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of current research and theory related to instructional programs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents.
