About the position

The Art Teacher at St. Louis Language Immersion School is responsible for providing art education to PreK-8th grade students in a bilingual and culturally responsive environment. This position emphasizes the importance of equity, anti-racism, and collaboration, aiming to foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture. The teacher will engage in continuous professional development and reflect on their practices to support the diverse needs of students while adhering to the school's mission and values.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in art education to PreK-8th grade students
• Ensure the safety of students by providing active supervision
• Build strong relationships based on mutual respect with students, families, and stakeholders
• Provide appropriate, research-based scaffolds and differentiate instruction
• Develop and implement an effective classroom culture plan
• Collect and analyze data to drive instructional decisions
• Prepare and implement daily lessons aligned to the curriculum
• Provide high-quality and consistent input in English instruction while adhering to the Dual Language Model framework

Requirements

• A license to teach in Missouri or other U.S. state (in Art K-12) or ability to teach in the country in which the teacher received their training
• Bachelor's Degree in Education, Art, or a closely related field
• Near native fluency in spoken and written English
• 8 years of teaching experience

Nice-to-haves

• Teaching experience in K-8
• Experience coordinating art programs
• Solid understanding of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support
• Knowledge of best practices when working with language learners
• Fluency in French, Spanish or Mandarin
