About the position

The ART Teacher at Project LEADERS schools within the Wake County Public School System is responsible for planning and providing engaging classroom learning experiences that foster the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students. This role involves supervising students, monitoring their outcomes, and collaborating with parents and the community to ensure a supportive educational environment. The teacher will develop instructional plans tailored to meet diverse student needs and maintain a conducive classroom atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and provide appropriate classroom learning experiences for students.
  • Supervise students in various school-related settings.
  • Monitor and evaluate student outcomes.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet student needs.
  • Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices.
  • Monitor the appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Utilize assessment strategies aligned with the curriculum and standards.
  • Engage in continuous professional quality improvement.
  • Implement classroom instructional strategies that reflect students' diverse backgrounds.
  • Collaborate with peers, parents, and community stakeholders to improve educational experiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education with appropriate subject area.
  • Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator's License in a teaching content area.
  • Extensive knowledge of curriculum and effective classroom instructional practices.
  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a specific subject area.
