About the position

The Art Teacher at Safe Harbor School is responsible for providing educational instruction to students in grades 6-12 who are receiving treatment for emotional and behavioral issues. The role involves implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and utilizing various teaching techniques and behavior management strategies to create a supportive learning environment. The teacher will work collaboratively with other staff members to assess student needs and progress, ensuring compliance with educational standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assess educational needs and progress of assigned students in cooperation with the school team.
• Provide instruction in assigned classes of expertise.
• Implement crisis intervention and apply de-escalation techniques as needed.
• Create a positive and supportive classroom climate for learning and treatment.
• Ensure confidentiality regarding students in compliance with licensing agencies and company policy.
• Develop or assist in developing IEPs and coordinate meetings with the IEP team.
• Attend faculty/staff meetings and participate in training sessions.

Requirements

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in an educational discipline.
• Professional Educator License (PEL) is required.
• Valid driver's license required.

Nice-to-haves

• 2 years previous teaching experience.
• Professional Educator License with Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS I) endorsement.
