About the position

The Art Teacher position at Brandon High School is designed for an individual who is passionate about fostering creativity and artistic expression among students. Responsibilities

  • Meet and instruct assigned classes at the assigned school and at times designated by Principal
  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
  • Align lessons to standards and ensure a coherent sequence of learning
  • Assist students in taking responsibility for their learning and monitor their progress
  • Provide multiple ways for students to engage with content
  • Manage a learning-focused classroom community
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning
  • Manage classroom space, time, and resources effectively
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with families/guardians
  • Prepare for classes and show written evidence of preparation upon request
  • Encourage students to maintain high standards of classroom behavior
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media
  • Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports
  • Identify and report learning disabilities of students
  • Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policy
  • Assist administration in implementing policies and rules governing student conduct
  • Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers
  • Participate in training sessions and classes to improve professional competence
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees
  • Maintain responsibility for district-owned assets assigned to the employee
  • Undergo periodic evaluations according to state and board policy procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Board of Education or administration

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or higher
  • Hold an appropriate Mississippi Teaching Credential or valid emergency certification issued by the state of Mississippi Educational Board
  • Required references and background check
