About the position

The Schenectady City School District is seeking a passionate and innovative Visual Arts Teacher to inspire and educate K-5 students in various forms of visual arts. Responsibilities

• Engage students using culturally responsive practices in various forms of visual arts, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, drawing, design, crafts, photography, video, filmmaking, and architecture.
• Utilize growth mindset practices to cultivate student curiosity about the world.
• Teach students how to use art to communicate thoughts, feelings, and messages that initiate action.
• Develop and implement lesson plans that align with students' lived experiences and interests.
• Inspire students to be creators and discover their artistic talents.

Requirements

• NYS certification.
• Experience teaching art in a variety of ways and contexts.
