Responsibilities

• Develop aesthetic understanding and appreciation in students.
• Discover and develop students' talents in the field of art.
• Teach knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, crafts, and design as per the District 54 Art Curriculum.
• Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter as specified by state law and school district regulations.
• Provide instruction that helps students develop aesthetic concepts and the ability to make qualitative judgments about art.
• Demonstrate techniques in activities such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, crafts, and design using various media and teaching techniques.
• Develop instructional plans that fulfill art objectives while allowing for new or experimental techniques.
• Organize class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstrations, and working time.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
• Minimum of 18 semester hours in art education.
• Illinois State Teaching Certification.
