About the position

The Art Teacher position at the Public Schools of Robeson County is a full-time role based in Pembroke, NC, where the teacher will be responsible for planning, organizing, and presenting instruction in a manner that fosters educational and social development among students. The teacher will report directly to the Principal and may supervise teacher assistants. The primary goal of this position is to create an engaging and effective learning environment that encourages students to explore their creativity and develop their artistic skills. In this role, the teacher will manage instructional time effectively, ensuring that all materials, supplies, and equipment are prepared before each lesson. The teacher will establish clear rules and procedures for student behavior, facilitating a classroom environment conducive to learning. Instructional presentations will include reviewing previous materials, introducing new concepts, and providing relevant examples to enhance understanding. The teacher will also monitor student performance, providing timely feedback to support student growth and learning. The Art Teacher will be expected to interact positively with students, co-workers, parents, and the community, treating all individuals fairly and equitably. Non-instructional duties will also be part of the role, including adherence to established laws and policies, as well as participation in professional development activities. The position requires a degree in education or a related field that qualifies for licensure by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Degree in education or a related area qualifying for licensure as a teacher by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
  • Ability to use various classroom tools and equipment, including computers and art supplies.
  • Strong communication skills to convey information effectively to students and colleagues.
  • Ability to apply logical thinking to solve problems and interpret technical instructions.
  • Ability to maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment.
