About the position

The Senior Large Language Model Expert at Covestro will play a pivotal role in harnessing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance chemical and material science research. This position involves developing and maintaining data pipelines and AI models, particularly focusing on Large Language Models (LLMs) to extract insights from unstructured data sources. The expert will collaborate with a team of scientists and software developers to innovate digital solutions that support the chemical research process.

Responsibilities

• Support current and future projects related to AI
• Analyze business/project requirements and identify relevant data and tools for usage in LLMs, AI models, and applications
• Develop, maintain, and automate data pipelines for chemical LLMs
• Develop, maintain, and automate models and methods for ensuring confidentiality of information accessed by or used to train LLMs
• Maintain and ensure reliable operation of existing AI solutions
• Collaborate with cloud architects for automation, maintenance, and monitoring of pipeline solutions

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience, Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience; or PhD with at least 1 year of relevant experience in fields such as mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, technology (STEM), or equivalent.
• Prior experience with Generative AI techniques applied to LLM learning.
• Practical background and experience in software development with Python and experienced with machine learning libraries and frameworks

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree or PhD preferred
• Knowledge of using and configuring indexing tools (RAG, Vector Databases, etc.)
• General knowledge of cloud services (AWS preferred)
• Understanding the basics of polymer chemistry, particularly related to collection of and processing of R D data in this field.
