About the position

The Cyber Innovation, Analytics & Operations Department within the Communications, Information and Navigation Office (CINO) at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) is seeking talented and highly motivated Data Scientists to provide state-of-the-art solutions to its customers. In this role, you will engage in research, development, and delivery of algorithmic, machine learning, and artificial intelligence-based approaches to address complex problems posed by sponsors. Your work will involve designing, developing, and researching machine learning systems, models, and schemes tailored to specific sponsor domains, transforming state-of-the-art machine learning prototypes into actionable insights through data collection and modeling. You will also be responsible for visualizing data to uncover deeper insights and generating technical research reports and briefings to communicate findings effectively. In addition to these responsibilities, you will perform statistical analyses to support pattern of life and anomaly detection, and build high-quality software prototypes that integrate with various research and pre-production software environments. The selected candidates will assume a technical role, collaborating with other ARL staff and sponsors, and will spend a significant amount of time working in a classified environment located in Annapolis Junction, MD, State College, PA, or Reston, VA. Periodic travel to sponsor sites may be required, and candidates must be U.S. citizens due to security clearance requirements. This position can be filled at multiple levels, depending on education and experience, with a minimum requirement of a Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Science discipline, while a Master's degree is preferred.
