About the position

The Arts & Crafts Director at Shibley Day Camp is responsible for leading the art program during the summer season, focusing on creating a dynamic and engaging environment for children aged 7-13. This role involves designing art activities, managing a team of instructors, and ensuring a positive experience for campers while promoting creativity and self-expression.

Responsibilities

• Create a dynamic art curriculum that caters to various skill levels and interests, incorporating a range of mediums (painting, drawing, sculpture, crafts, etc.).
• Supervise and mentor art instructors, providing guidance and support in delivering high-quality instruction.
• Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages creativity, exploration, and self-expression among campers.
• Ensure all activities comply with safety regulations and camp policies, maintaining a safe and organized workspace.
• Organize art showcases, exhibitions, and other events to highlight camper work and promote community engagement.
• Oversee inventory and procurement of art supplies, ensuring materials are available and well-maintained.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience working with children in a camp or educational setting, preferably in a leadership role.
• Strong artistic skills and knowledge of various art techniques and materials.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with children and staff.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• CPR/First Aid certification is a plus (training can be provided).
