About the position

VectorUSA is seeking a dynamic and passionate Aruba Network Engineer II to join our growing technical team in Torrance, California. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining network systems that support our business operations and those of our clients. You will gain hands-on experience in managing LAN, WAN, and WLAN environments, ensuring the stability and performance of diverse client networks. The ideal candidate will be self-disciplined, capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team, and possess strong communication skills to effectively interact with both technical and non-technical personnel, especially in high-pressure situations. As an Aruba Network Engineer II, you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge Aruba technology, collaborating with a team of solution architects and pre-sales engineers. You will deepen your understanding of the major product lines offered by VectorUSA and how Aruba solutions can be leveraged to meet customer needs. This position also provides a pathway to gain professional-level certifications with leading manufacturing partners, particularly Aruba, while building credibility and strengthening relationships with manufacturer partner teams. Your typical day will involve providing multi-technology consulting services to clients, diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to LAN, WAN, and WLAN components, and maintaining networking systems that include routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems. You will also be responsible for documenting your work in accordance with company policies and procedures, and collaborating with various technical teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues. The role requires flexibility, as you may need to support multiple technical systems in a 24/7 operational environment, which may include varied shift schedules such as day, night, and weekend hours.

Responsibilities

  • Provide multi-technology consulting services to clients to analyze and provide strategies and solutions on all aspects of network systems, infrastructure, and related technology components, with a focus on Aruba solutions.
  • Diagnose and correct technical problems with LAN, WAN, and WLAN network components, and end-device network clients, with an emphasis on Aruba technologies.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot networking systems including but not limited to routers, switches, firewalls, wireless systems, and end-user network clients, particularly those involving Aruba products.
  • Install, configure, and test updates and upgrades to network hardware and firmware, including Aruba hardware.
  • Document all work actions as required by VectorUSA and clients in accordance with standard policies and procedures.
  • Work with VectorUSA, client, and third-party technical and service teams to maintain, troubleshoot, and connect technical issues, with a focus on Aruba solutions.
  • Perform basic systems testing and operational tasks for a wide variety of network systems, emphasizing Aruba technology.
  • Support multiple technical systems in 24 x 7 operational environments with high uptime requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent corporate or military training.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of full-time experience performing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and error correction on a variety of network, LAN, WAN, and WLAN technologies, including but not limited to firewalls, routers, switches, wireless controllers, wireless access points, and end-device network clients, with a focus on Aruba solutions.
  • Aruba certifications highly desirable; CCNP and other Cisco certifications required.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and implementation.
  • Working knowledge of general client and server operating systems and back-office applications, including but not limited to the Microsoft Windows Operating System (multiple versions), Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, etc.
  • Strong communication skills in the English language, with the ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical personnel in high-stress situations.
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner on multiple tasks or projects, with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • High level of professionalism, particularly working with and assisting clients with technical questions and issues.
  • Ability to produce and maintain documentation of information security systems using a variety of tools (i.e., Microsoft Word, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft SharePoint, etc.).
  • Must meet all requirements to obtain a Federal Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
  • Ability to work on varied shifts which may include 5x8 hours, 4 x 10 hours, nights, and weekends.
  • Foundational knowledge of Cisco IOS and Cisco Nexus OS. Experience in HP and Brocade switching equipment is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of IP internetworking/IP routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), Quality of Service (QoS), IP multicast, etc.

Nice-to-haves

  • Manufacturer certifications for technical knowledge and product-specific skills, with a preference for Aruba certifications.
