About the position

The Network Engineer position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering, focusing on the design and implementation of Cisco Wireless Infrastructure. The role involves working with various log and monitoring aggregation tools such as Splunk, SolarWinds, PRTG, and Wireshark. A strong understanding of Cisco AnyConnect VPN (ASA/FirePower) and Palo Alto Networks (FW/VPN) is essential. The candidate will be responsible for managing switched and routed data networks and protocols in a multi-platform environment, ensuring high availability and performance. The position also requires the ability to perform after-hours systems support, installation, and maintenance as needed. In this role, the engineer will support data center routing, switching, Wi-Fi, LAN, WAN, SDWAN, and firewall services, proactively monitoring the health of all network systems located at the data centers. The engineer will also be tasked with authoring technical documentation, including network LAN/WAN infrastructure diagrams and data center diagrams for the Optum Integration Project. Effective communication with supervisors, peers, project managers, and stakeholders is crucial, as is the ability to work closely with vendors on the implementation of products, services, and projects. The engineer will ensure that security, redundancy, disaster recovery, fault tolerance, and operational standards are maintained in accordance with IT compliance requirements and industry best practices. Responsibilities also include performing IP migration planning, coordinating with network and systems engineers, and conducting firmware upgrades and support for network switches, routers, firewalls, and clients as necessary for vulnerability management. Responsibilities

  • Design and implement Cisco Wireless Infrastructure.
  • Utilize log and monitoring aggregation tools such as Splunk, SolarWinds, PRTG, and Wireshark.
  • Manage switched and routed data networks and protocols in a multi-platform environment.
  • Support data center routing, switching, Wi-Fi, LAN, WAN, SDWAN, and firewall services.
  • Proactively monitor the health of all network systems located at the data centers.
  • Perform after-hours systems support, installation, and maintenance as required.
  • Author technical documentation including network LAN/WAN infrastructure diagrams and data center diagrams.
  • Provide specialized technical expertise in researching and resolving network and security-related problems.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, peers, project managers, and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with vendors on the implementation of products, services, and projects.
  • Ensure security, redundancy, disaster recovery, fault tolerance, and operational standards are maintained.
  • Perform IP migration planning and coordinate with network and systems engineers.
  • Conduct firmware upgrades and support for network switches, routers, firewalls, and clients.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in Network Engineering.
  • Experience with log and monitoring aggregation tools such as Splunk, SolarWinds, PRTG, and Wireshark.
  • Strong understanding of Cisco AnyConnect VPN (ASA/FirePower) and Palo Alto Networks (FW/VPN).
  • Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in handling various switched and routed data networks and protocols in a multi-platform environment with high availability.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SD-WAN technologies.
  • Knowledge of MPLS and IPSec protocols.
  • Familiarity with IT network discovery, documentation, and inventory management.
