About the position

The Asbestos Litigation Paralegal position in San Francisco is a full-time role that requires a candidate with a minimum of 3 years of experience specifically in asbestos litigation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple complex litigation matters simultaneously, ensuring that all case filings are monitored and assessed in detail for the attorneys involved. This role involves drafting and preparing initial drafts of various pre-trial motions, dispositive motions, and other pleadings necessary for the litigation process. Additionally, the paralegal will review and evaluate discovery documents, which include medical records, sales documents, employment records, and other relevant case materials. The position also requires composing case assessments and evaluations for review by associates and partners, as well as maintaining contemporaneous accounting and submission of personal billable time. This role is critical in supporting the legal team and ensuring that all aspects of the litigation process are handled efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple complex litigation matters simultaneously.
  • Monitor case filings and provide detailed assessments to attorneys.
  • Draft and prepare initial drafts of various pre-trial motions, dispositive motions, and other pleadings.
  • Review and evaluate discovery documents including medical records, sales documents, employment records, and other case material.
  • Compose case assessments and evaluations for review by associates and partners.
  • Contemporaneous accounting and submission of personal billable time.

Requirements

  • 3+ years' experience in asbestos litigation is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient interpersonal skills including effective communication with both attorneys and other paralegals to accomplish goals.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a larger team.
  • Effective problem solving capabilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using legal systems such as Westlaw, File & Serve Xpress, PACER.
