About the position

The Asbestos Project Monitor / Environmental Consultant position at Encorus Group involves overseeing and conducting monitoring assignments related to hazardous materials, particularly asbestos, in the Buffalo area. The role requires a strong commitment to safety and compliance, as well as the ability to work independently in various field locations. Responsibilities

  • Perform project monitoring and air sampling for asbestos, lead, mold, radon, heavy metals, indoor air quality, and other contaminants.
  • Conduct clearance visual inspections to determine project completeness.
  • Assist in asbestos, lead-based paint, hazardous materials inspections, and indoor air quality investigations, including radon testing, mold testing, and water sampling.
  • Conduct lead-based paint inspections, risk assessments, and clearance testing.
  • Assist with drafting inspection and monitoring reports.
  • Provide complete and accurate technical data and reports for project management.
  • Assist with industrial hygiene sampling and ensure compliance with LEED, NYS legislation, and other applicable standards.
  • Support general data entry duties for the laboratory and office as needed.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of related experience in hazardous materials inspections, primarily asbestos.
  • Current Asbestos Project Monitor / Air Sampling Technician Certification or ability to obtain through an 8-hour refresher course.
  • Current Asbestos Inspector certification or ability to obtain within 3 months.
  • Strong work ethic and high level of integrity, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform fieldwork independently at various work site locations, work flexible hours, and travel within Upstate New York.
  • Comfortable working on active construction sites with asbestos and other hazardous materials.
  • Ability to pass company drug screening, including pre-employment tests.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel locally and occasionally out of state.
