About the position

The ASC Scheduling Coordinator at Pinehurst Medical Clinic plays a crucial role in enhancing the patient experience by serving as a liaison between patients and medical staff. This position involves managing patient appointments, collecting necessary information, and ensuring smooth operations within the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC).

Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between patients and medical support staff by greeting, instructing, and directing patients and visitors for the ASC.
  • Enter all patient demographic and insurance information, and collect payments upon check-in/out or when scheduling appointments.
  • Schedule patient appointments for both established and new patients according to clinical algorithms and ASC-approved guidelines.
  • Obtain and review patient medical records to support scheduling of open-access colonoscopies.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of GI surgical procedures and insurance requirements for pre-certification processes.
  • Ensure compliance with screening clinical frequency guidelines by reviewing prior GI procedures.
  • Complete follow-up tasks and delegated tasks for appointments and tests within the department's electronic system.
  • Advise patients on financial obligations including co-payments and insurance eligibility.
  • Answer telephones, return calls, and handle requests in a timely manner.
  • Manage mail, paperwork, and medical records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One to two years of experience in a medical office setting preferred.
