About the position

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is seeking a dynamic and results-driven individual to join as an ASIC Product Engineering Intern. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work closely with the ASIC Development team in the design, development, and qualification of new Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs). The intern will engage in various key responsibilities that are critical to the success of the ASIC product line. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about engineering and eager to contribute to innovative projects in a collaborative environment. The intern will be involved in ASIC evaluation bench hardware design and software generation, which includes creating and validating test boards and debugging test vectors. Reliability testing and ASIC qualification are also essential components of the role, ensuring that the products meet the necessary performance and reliability standards. The intern will perform statistical performance characterization, which may involve data science techniques to analyze and interpret performance data. Identifying ASIC performance issues and troubleshooting both circuit and software problems will be part of the daily tasks. Additionally, the intern will provide postproduction release support aimed at accomplishing cost reductions and performance enhancements. This includes participating in product engineering process improvement activities and contributing to the generation and improvement of software and user interfaces for engineering tools. Responsibilities

  • ASIC evaluation bench hardware design and software generation
  • Validation test board design and test vector debug
  • Reliability testing and ASIC qualification
  • Statistical performance characterization (plus data science)
  • Identification of ASIC performance issues
  • Circuit and software troubleshooting and resolution
  • Postproduction release support to accomplish cost reduction and performance enhancements
  • Help with product engineering process improvement activities
  • Software and UI generation and improvement of engineering tools

Requirements

  • GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or B average, upon initial hire date
  • Pursuing BS/MS in Engineering; degree in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering preferred
  • Knowledge of semiconductors and electrical circuits, both analog and digital (mixed-signal)
  • Understanding of integrated circuit manufacturing processes including wafer fabrication, assembly, and test
  • Software programming experience, writing and debugging applications
  • Preferred languages - NI LabView, SQL, C#, C++, C, XAML, and Python programming
  • Working experience with basic electrical laboratory equipment: Oscilloscopes, Source Measure Units, Digital Multimeters, etc.
  • Experience using schematic capture and layout tools
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
