About the position
Prescient Global Solutions is seeking skilled American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters to provide interpreting services for a government contract. The role requires maintaining professionalism while interpreting between ASL and English in various settings, including meetings and training sessions. Candidates must excel in high-pressure environments and demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide Sign Language Interpreting Services from ASL to English and vice versa.
- Interpret for deaf and hard-of-hearing employees in meetings, discussions, trainings, and events.
- Maintain professionalism and unobtrusiveness during interpretation.
- Work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment while adhering to the role of interpreter.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with clients and colleagues.
Requirements
- Active national or state certification (e.g., RID, NAD, BEI).
- Minimum of three years of professional ASL interpreting experience.
- Fluency in American Sign Language and English.
- Experience interpreting remotely using video platforms.
- Ability to interpret/transliterate fluently and understand the continuum of sign communication.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in customer service roles.
- Knowledge of Deaf Culture and ethics for interpreters.
