About The Position

Requirements

• Certified and qualified American Sign Language Interpreter.
• Fluency in English and American Sign Language.
• Knowledge of and adherence to the ethics of interpreting as per the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct.

Responsibilities

• Provide sign language interpreting and transliterating services for deaf and hard of hearing students in classes, events, and meetings.
• Interpret complex and technical information during lectures and labs, adjusting as needed based on the student's requirements.
• Facilitate communication by interpreting students' contributions and questions to faculty and classmates.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students to support communication needs.
• Assess and adjust the physical environment to enhance communication, including lighting and seating arrangements.
