About the position
We are seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our team. As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a crucial role in facilitating communication between individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing and those who can hear. This position offers flexibility in scheduling and the opportunity to work in various settings, ensuring effective communication and maintaining confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa accurately
- Provide interpretation services in various settings such as meetings, appointments, and events
- Ensure effective communication by conveying tone, emotions, and nuances of the message
- Maintain confidentiality and impartiality while interpreting
- Stay updated on sign language vocabulary and industry-specific terminology
Requirements
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other sign languages
- Strong linguistic skills with the ability to interpret and translate effectively
- Bilingual proficiency is preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Certification or degree in Sign Language Interpreting or related field is a plus

- Knowledge of Deaf culture and appropriate mediation
