About the position
The ASP/CACD Investigator position within the Arkansas State Police is responsible for investigating allegations of child abuse. This role involves collaboration with various law enforcement agencies, the Arkansas Department of Human Services, and other stakeholders to ensure thorough investigations and compliance with state and federal laws. The investigator will conduct interviews, compile documentation, and present testimony in legal proceedings, all while adhering to agency policies and protocols.
Responsibilities
- Investigate allegations of child abuse in collaboration with law enforcement and other agencies.
- Conduct interviews and assist in criminal investigations as needed.
- Enter information into the Children's Reporting and Information System (CHRIS).
- Compile documentation, reports, and transcripts related to child abuse allegations.
- Present factual testimony in administrative hearings, juvenile, and criminal proceedings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, psychology, criminal justice, criminology, or a related field; OR a high school diploma plus five years of law enforcement experience, including two years in criminal investigation.
- Valid Arkansas driver's license.
- Knowledge of investigation principles and practices, child abuse issues, and relevant laws and regulations.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in child maltreatment investigations.
- Familiarity with social issues related to child abuse.
