The Asphalt Operations Manager is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the comprehensive operations of two asphalt plants located in San Diego County. This position entails managing all aspects of plant operations, including production, maintenance, personnel, and ensuring that the plants operate efficiently, safely, and profitably. The manager will be tasked with optimizing plant performance through continuous process improvements and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, particularly those related to environmental and safety standards. In this role, the Asphalt Operations Manager will implement and maintain efficient workflows and processes to optimize production while minimizing costs. This includes managing material inventories to ensure a proper supply of all necessary materials for production. The manager will also be responsible for overseeing a preventive maintenance program to maximize plant uptime and longevity, coordinating with maintenance staff to address repairs and equipment replacements, and evaluating equipment needs for potential purchases or upgrades. Personnel management is another critical aspect of this role. The manager will lead, manage, and develop plant personnel, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. This includes conducting performance reviews, providing feedback, and identifying training and development opportunities. The Asphalt Operations Manager will also work closely with the sales team to understand customer needs, anticipate future demand, and ensure product quality and consistency, while fostering strong relationships with customers and stakeholders. Additionally, the manager will establish and enforce safety protocols, conduct regular safety training, and stay updated with the latest industry regulations to ensure compliance across the plants. The working conditions for this position may require extended hours, including evenings and weekends, particularly during peak production seasons. Frequent visits to the plants will be necessary, exposing the manager to outdoor weather conditions, loud noises, and potential hazards typical of a production environment.
