About the position
The Asphalt Plant Groundman is responsible for performing a variety of physical tasks related to the operation of heavy equipment and machinery, as well as using power and hand tools for applying asphalt products. This role emphasizes safety, communication, and teamwork to meet production goals and maintain a clean and efficient job site.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment such as trucks and front-end loaders according to job specifications.
- Follow direction of the Foreman and/or Superintendent about daily production schedule and activities.
- Participate in job-site and safety meetings and all Company related training.
- Inspect, clean and maintain equipment and machinery.
- Report problems and malfunctioning equipment to supervisor and/or shop personnel.
- Coordinate and work with contractors, sub-contractors and vendors to complete jobs.
- Maintain a clean job site and secure tools and equipment each day.
- Understand material handling and storage in compliance with SDS sheets.
- Serve as a front-line Company representative and provide excellent service to customers and the public.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Six months to one year of related experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean motor-vehicle record.
- Fluency in English, including speaking, reading, and writing.
