About the position

As an Asphalt Plant Laborer at Texas Materials, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the plant's operations efficiently and effectively to maximize production while ensuring a safe work environment. Your responsibilities will include developing teamwork and fostering a spirit of collaboration within the production and delivery departments. You will be expected to adhere to all safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with OSHA/MSHA regulations, and using the appropriate tools and equipment for various tasks. Reporting any issues to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager will be part of your daily duties. You will be responsible for the daily maintenance of the plant, which includes routine housekeeping duties to keep the plant clean and operational. This role may require you to perform general laboring duties, operate small power tools, and handle materials, tools, and supplies. Regular and predictable attendance is essential, and you may be assigned additional duties as needed. To succeed in this position, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, which includes maintaining a strong commitment to safety and teamwork. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas and comply with all safety regulations. Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working practices.
  • Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager.
  • Ensure daily maintenance of the plant is completed, including routine housekeeping duties.
  • Keep the plant clean and organized.
  • Report all major maintenance problems to the Plant Manager.
  • Perform general laboring duties as necessary, including operating small power tools like a jackhammer.
  • Lift, carry, and hold materials, tools, and supplies as required.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance at assigned times.
  • Assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required.
  • Two years of related experience preferred but not required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and criminal background check.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Must maintain a current driver's license that meets state requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Basic knowledge in electricity and mechanics.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction and paving.
