About The Position

The Asphalt Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of hot-mix asphalt plant production, ensuring compliance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications. This role involves coordinating logistics for construction materials, managing production schedules, and ensuring safety and environmental regulations are met.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • 5 years of asphalt plant production and maintenance experience are required.
  • 2-3 years of management experience is required.
  • Strong scheduling, problem resolution, and communication skills.
  • Analytical skills with attention to detail and organization.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with computers is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor material quality, inspect, and troubleshoot material in collaboration with the Quality Control Department.
  • Perform and supervise maintenance operations, delegating responsibilities and monitoring performance.
  • Calibrate the plant for maximum efficiencies.
  • Communicate with vendors to ensure timely repair and delivery of parts.
  • Troubleshoot downtime and minimize causes by implementing preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Manage aggregate inventory and schedule deliveries.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other safety and environmental regulations, including Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Coordinate with the Trucking Manager for timely delivery of equipment to job sites.
  • Supervise the storage of parts and supplies and the maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Perform or supervise difficult repairs directly.
  • Report all accidents and incidents to the Safety Director and ensure post-accident drug testing is conducted.
  • Cross-train crew members and address employee issues, coaching and disciplining as necessary.
  • Promote safe working practices and conduct weekly Toolbox Safety meetings.
  • Perform projects and other duties as assigned.
