About the position

The Asphalt Roller Operator is responsible for operating various types of rolling equipment to ensure a quality finished product in the asphalt paving process. This role requires attention to detail in meeting compaction requirements and aesthetics while adhering to safety policies and procedures. The operator will work closely with the Paving Foreman and is expected to maintain the equipment and follow project specifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment safely and efficiently to smooth material from paver to proper depths.
• Understand all aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, and compaction.
• Follow grades and ensure the efficient working condition of the equipment.
• Perform minor servicing and maintenance on equipment or refer major problems to the supervisor.
• Follow directions from the manager regarding daily tasks and expectations for each project.
• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with safety policies and procedures.
• Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures.
• Communicate effectively and maintain excellent interpersonal skills.
• Perform any other general duties as specified.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of related asphalt and road construction experience.
• Prior experience with asphalt paving and rolling equipment.
• Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
• Pass a pre-employment 'Fit for Work' physical.
• Provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document.
• Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public.
• Maintain a current driver's license that meets state requirements.
• Have a Motor Vehicle Record that meets company standards.

• Previous related experience in the construction field is preferred.
