About the position

The Associate Director-Machine Learning Engineering at Moody's will play a pivotal role in developing cutting-edge software applications focused on generative AI. This position involves collaborating closely with data scientists, engineers, and domain experts to create innovative solutions that address the unique challenges faced by the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing production-grade generative AI solutions, particularly emphasizing large language models, and will be tasked with creating novel methods and techniques applicable to Moody's challenges. In this role, you will define objectives in collaboration with cross-functional teams, identify relevant data sources, assist in the data collection process, and develop software applications that meet production standards. You will also design, implement, and validate machine learning algorithms and models, optimizing their performance for real-world applications. Staying abreast of the latest developments in generative AI will be crucial, as you will need to identify opportunities to apply state-of-the-art research to Moody's problems. Additionally, you will communicate research findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through presentations, reports, and publications. Contributing to the broader research community by publishing in top-tier conferences and journals is also an expectation of this role. Mentoring and providing guidance to junior researchers and data scientists will be an essential part of your responsibilities, fostering a culture of learning and development within the team.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong background in generative AI, particularly with large language models and natural language processing.
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Experience building applications with Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art machine learning techniques, including deep learning, reinforcement learning, and unsupervised learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and validate machine learning models for real-world applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Experience in the financial industry or credit risk modeling is a plus.
