The Assembler/Technician role at Hitachi involves assembling electronic components and sub-assemblies, ensuring quality and adherence to production standards. The role is based in Pleasanton, CA, and is a full-time position with a temporary status leading to potential hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble or create sub-assemblies of electronic components and final products.
  • Use hand tools to perform a variety of electronic or electro-mechanical assembly operations.
  • Produce quality work to prescribed standards, focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Follow methods and sequence of operations in wiring, component installation, hand soldering, and cable harnessing.
  • Perform complex electrical assemblies, reading work orders and following production drawings with minimal supervision.
  • Position and align parts in specified relationships using jigs or fixtures.
  • Join or secure parts using hand tools, power tools, and machines.
  • Mount assembled components on chassis panels.
  • Conduct go-not-go testing and inspections to ensure compliance with production specifications.
  • Perform inspections of electrical assemblies against assembly drawings and schematics.
  • Incorporate problem-solving and process improvements into workflow.
  • Conduct quality inspections on the processing line as needed.
  • Disassemble, modify, rework, and reassemble assemblies according to specifications.
  • Interpret CAD drawings and follow established procedures.
  • Perform assembly/test functions utilizing mechanical skills and tools in a manufacturing environment.
  • Verify accuracy of test setups and make necessary adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot and rework malfunctions disclosed by test data.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of electrical assembly or technician experience.
  • Strong ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Hands-on experience assembling electrical equipment.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
  • Effective organization and time management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with electrical assembly equipment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines.
  • Hands-on experience with fine soldering and cable assembly.
