About the position

The Assembly Supervisor is a pivotal role within our manufacturing operations, responsible for overseeing a team of over 80 hourly employees in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This position requires a strong leader who can effectively manage both high-volume production lines and low-volume complex work cells. The Assembly Supervisor will play a crucial role in driving operational excellence, ensuring quality standards are met, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement among team members. In this role, the supervisor will develop and lead their team to achieve key operational goals, focusing on quality, efficiency, and safety. This includes training and coaching employees, implementing effective communication strategies, and maintaining a disciplined work environment. The supervisor will champion the use of continuous improvement tools to minimize downtime, enhance product quality, reduce scrap rates, and meet labor efficiency targets. Additionally, they will be responsible for implementing product and engineering changes, ensuring that these transitions are smooth and effective. Safety is a top priority for the Assembly Supervisor, who will model and promote adherence to environmental, health, and safety policies. They will monitor work order progress, ensuring that quality and timeliness are maintained throughout the production process. The supervisor will also maintain accurate timecards and overtime records, and work collaboratively with union representatives to uphold the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. This role is essential for maintaining a productive and safe work environment, ultimately contributing to the overall success of the manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a team of 80+ hourly employees in a manufacturing environment.
  • Develop and implement training programs to achieve operations, quality, and continuous improvement goals.
  • Champion continuous improvement tools to reduce downtime and improve quality.
  • Implement product and engineering changes successfully within the team.
  • Promote adherence to environmental, health, and safety policies and initiatives.
  • Monitor work order progress and ensure quality and timeliness of completion.
  • Maintain timecards and overtime records for employees.
  • Foster a positive working relationship with union representatives by adhering to the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Requirements

  • Associate degree required.
  • 2+ years of supervision experience in the manufacturing and/or industrial field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Ability to motivate and lead employees effectively.
  • Background in a progressive manufacturing management environment.
  • Experience supervising union-represented employees.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma/Lean processes.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in software applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Willingness to work 2nd shift if needed.
