About the position

The Assembly Team Leader for B Shift at ITW Medical is responsible for overseeing a team of 11 assemblers in the production of class II medical devices. This role combines leadership with mechanical aptitude, requiring the ability to make small repairs and adjustments to equipment while driving continuous improvement initiatives. The position involves ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory practices, managing daily operations, and fostering a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day operations of manufacturing personnel in the plant.
  • Evaluate work centers and utilize manpower to maximize efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Make decisions on production and personnel matters to ensure a safe production environment.
  • Learn ERP system for data entry and transactions.
  • Communicate with staffing agencies as required.
  • Correct non-standard behavior and advise HR and Production Manager when disciplinary action is needed.
  • Promote Safety, Quality, and Production goals.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to promote teamwork and share successes.
  • Monitor housekeeping to ensure the plant is presentable.
  • Facilitate smooth shift transitions through effective communication.
  • Verify shop orders for material and component issues.
  • Monitor production levels, rejects, and downtime on machines by being present on the floor.
  • Train employees to ensure they understand job requirements and can perform their roles effectively.
  • Perform yearly reviews of employees on shift and verify attendance records.
  • Approve vacation time for staff to maintain adequate staffing levels.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of related experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment overseeing production.
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Knowledge and ability to read and understand instructions for ERP system and data recording.
  • Knowledge of Medical room requirements.
  • Strong knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for creating and maintaining spreadsheets, charts, and graphs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detailed analysis and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and compute ratios and percentages.
  • Professional demeanor when interacting with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
