About the position

The Assembly Technician position at Fastenal involves working part-time in the FMI Technology Service Center, where the technician will perform various operational and administrative tasks related to assembling, reconditioning, and testing components for industrial vending and bin systems. The role emphasizes quality, efficiency, and safety while supporting inventory management and shipping processes.

Responsibilities

• Assembling, cleaning, reconditioning and testing components and devices using work instructions
• Preparing devices for shipment to the customer
• Disassembling devices and placing parts in their appropriate locations
• Printing, inspecting, adhering and scanning labels
• Packaging and shipping completed products
• Assisting with ordering, stocking, maintaining and picking inventory
• Maintaining quality and efficiencies while providing for continual departmental improvements
• Communicating with the department manager and Fastenal team members
• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
• Complying with safety regulations

Requirements

• 18 years of age or older, due to the nature of work
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proficient computer skills
• Exhibit strong problem solving, deductive reasoning and decision making skills
• Learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
• Highly motivated, self directed and customer service oriented
• Work independently as well as in a team environment
• Demonstrate strong organization, planning and prioritizing abilities
• Demonstrate core values of ambition, innovation, integrity and teamwork
• Lift, slide, carry and lower packages that typically weigh 25lbs-50lbs and may weigh up to 75lbs
• Pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY)
