About the position
The position involves various responsibilities related to fiber optics, including reading technical schematics, stripping cables, cleaving fiber, polishing connectors, and testing to ensure compliance with requirements. The operator will be trained in these tasks, making it suitable for individuals willing to learn and grow in a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Read technical schematics and strip the cable to the required length.
- Strip the end of the breakout, apply numbered labels, and rubber boots.
- Cleave the very tip of the fiber using a specialized scope.
- Follow a preset polishing recipe, use proper sanding pads, and ensure no dirt or spots are visible.
- Test all connectors and ensure they meet testing requirements.
Requirements
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Ability to showcase a positive attitude.
- Willing to learn and be part of a team environment.
Nice-to-haves
- Previous experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read, write and understand English.
- Familiarity with fiber optics systems and components.
- Ability to read and interpret technical schematics.
- Proficiency in connecting, maintaining, and troubleshooting fiber optics systems.
- Knowledge of optical fiber testing and measuring equipment.
