About the position

The Assessment and Resource Coordinator at Community Partners in Action plays a crucial role in assessing the risk and needs of defendants within the New Britain Criminal Court. This position involves evaluating the suitability of defendants for alternative sanctions and programming, and making informed recommendations to the States Attorney's Office. The role is integral to the organization's mission of advocating for criminal justice reform and supporting individuals in the justice system.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the risk and needs of defendants in the New Britain Criminal Court.
  • Function as a clearinghouse for information on alternative sanctions and programming.
  • Make recommendations to the States Attorney's Office regarding defendants' suitability for various programs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community service providers and stakeholders.
  • Organize and manage workload effectively to meet the needs of the court and defendants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in social work or a closely related field, or a bachelor's degree with one year of professional experience in case management techniques.
  • Experience in social service and criminal justice sectors.
  • Knowledge of the New Britain catchment area service providers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to relate to individuals from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
  • Crisis management skills and ability to prioritize tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual capacity in English and Spanish is preferred.

Benefits

  • Hourly rate of $22.30/hour for 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9am to 3pm.
