About the position
The Assessor position in the City of Ogdensburg involves evaluating real property for tax purposes. The role requires a combination of educational qualifications and relevant experience in property valuation, ensuring accurate assessments that contribute to the city's tax revenue. The Assessor will be responsible for collecting property data, preparing valuation reports, and maintaining compliance with state regulations.
Responsibilities
- Collect and record property inventory data.
- Prepare comparable sales analysis reports.
- Prepare signed valuation or appraisal estimates or reports using cost, income, or market data approaches to value.
- Provide detailed and verified documentation of experience and work samples.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree with six months of experience in property valuation or related fields.
- Associate's Degree with one year of experience in property valuation or related fields.
- High school diploma or equivalent with two years of experience in property valuation or related fields.
- Certification by the New York State Office of Real Property Tax Services.
