About the position

The Facilities Asset Management Preventative Maintenance Manager at Dartmouth College is responsible for leading and managing the preventative maintenance program for all campus facilities and assets. This role is crucial in ensuring that academic, residential, and administrative buildings are well-maintained and safe, contributing to a positive learning environment. The manager will collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to implement effective maintenance strategies and uphold the university's standards of excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and work closely with key stakeholders to develop, implement, and maintain an effective Asset and Preventative Maintenance program.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all campus assets and manage the lifecycle of facilities assets, including acquisition, maintenance, and disposal.
  • Accurately inventory, update, assess, and determine life cycle costs and replacement costs of the College's assets.
  • Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track work orders, asset performance, and compliance with maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with municipal, state, and federal regulations, as well as university policies and safety standards.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and audits of facilities and equipment to ensure a safe environment for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for university facilities.
  • Create and maintain detailed schedules for routine inspections, servicing, and repairs, minimizing disruption to university operations.
  • Develop a scheduled replacement plan for assets and extend their life through a preventative maintenance program.
  • Develop customer partnerships built on delivery, timely and effective communication, and trust.
  • Identify opportunities and implement best practices to improve user satisfaction by adding new services or modifying existing ones.
  • Leverage feedback from users and other computing professionals to troubleshoot programming or networking problems.
  • Coordinate with colleagues at other institutions that use the same applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related field.
  • 6 or more years of experience in facilities maintenance management, preferably within a university or educational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, preventive maintenance best practices, and applicable safety regulations.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in CMMS or IWMS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to qualify as a Dartmouth Approved Driver.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in Facilities Management (CFM) or equivalent is desirable.
  • Work experience within a university or educational environment.
  • Ability to develop partnerships with customers built on delivery, timely and effective communication, and trust.
