About the position

The Asset Manager position at Grandbridge Real Estate Capital involves performing and supervising loan administration duties for commercial mortgage loans, with a focus on collateral that typically consists of income-producing real estate. The role requires supporting the processing of borrower requests and enforcing loan agreements. The Asset Manager will be responsible for producing accurate analyses of operating statements and financial statements related to commercial properties, identifying variances, and ensuring compliance with lender requirements. This includes reviewing and approving operating statement analyses and property inspection reports, as well as underwriting and making recommendations regarding borrower requests such as loan modifications and collateral releases. In addition to these responsibilities, the Asset Manager will analyze and process borrower requests for fund releases from reserve accounts, manage proceeds from insurance loss claims, and interface with property managers and borrowers to collect delinquent loan payments. The role also involves maintaining the company's loan servicing system database, identifying borrower breaches of loan document requirements, and mentoring Asset Analysts. The Asset Manager will participate in the loan risk grading process and assist management in implementing process improvements and ensuring regulatory compliance within the department. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. The Asset Manager will also need to travel occasionally for property inspections and meetings, making it essential to have a flexible schedule and the ability to produce accurate work consistently.

Responsibilities

  • Perform loan administration duties for commercial mortgage loans, focusing on collateral management.
  • Produce analyses of operating statements and financial statements for commercial properties, identifying variances and ensuring compliance with lender requirements.
  • Conduct property inspections to verify maintenance of collateral and report any issues.
  • Analyze and underwrite borrower requests for loan modifications, collateral releases, and other financial transactions.
  • Process borrower requests for fund releases from reserve accounts and approve them according to company policies.
  • Manage proceeds from insurance loss claims and prepare recommendations for their disposition.
  • Interface with property managers and borrowers to collect delinquent loan payments and prepare demand letters.
  • Maintain the loan servicing system database accurately and timely, reviewing the work of department members.
  • Identify and report borrower breaches of loan document requirements and mentor department members.
  • Analyze asset performance and make recommendations for loan risk grading and watch list maintenance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and related training.
  • Five years of experience in commercial real estate, with at least three years in finance.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel occasionally overnight.
  • Strong working knowledge of loan accounting concepts, including interest accrual methodologies and amortization.
  • Ability to read and comprehend commercial real estate loan documents.
  • Intermediate-level skills with Microsoft Excel and Word; basic skills with Adobe Acrobat.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master of Business Administration from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with commercial property management.
  • Superior knowledge of commercial lending programs from Life Insurance Company lenders, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and CMBS conduits.
  • Experience in commercial mortgage loan underwriting.
  • Certification in commercial property inspections from the MBA or GSEs.
  • Strong knowledge of the commercial building construction process and construction lending.
  • Good understanding of real estate law concepts.
