About the position

Invenergy LLC is seeking an Asset Manager for its Renewables Asset Management team in Chicago, Illinois. This role is pivotal in driving innovation in energy solutions, focusing on the management of renewable energy projects. The Asset Manager will be responsible for overseeing the financial, operational, and regulatory aspects of renewable energy assets, ensuring they meet performance targets and comply with all relevant agreements and regulations. The position requires a blend of financial acumen, operational insight, and regulatory knowledge to effectively manage and optimize the performance of renewable energy projects. In the finance domain, the Asset Manager will assist in developing annual budgets for projects and perform periodic variance analyses to ensure financial targets are met. They will provide input and review pro-forma financial models for generation assets, author reports on project performance for investors and lenders, and assist in cash flow forecasting and management. The role also involves performing financial analyses of aftermarket improvements and developing other ad-hoc analyses as needed. Operationally, the Asset Manager will collaborate with the operations engineering team to evaluate and improve operational performance. They will coordinate with project Operations and Maintenance (O&M) staff on various operational items, including major component repairs and replacements. The Asset Manager will also participate in contract development with outside vendors, from soliciting quotes to final contract negotiations, and support Invenergy's construction and development teams by tracking key pre-operations milestones and deliverables under power purchase agreements. In terms of regulatory and compliance responsibilities, the Asset Manager will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and project agreements, including Power Purchase Agreements, Operating Agreements, Credit Agreements, and Operations and Maintenance Agreements. They will lead dispute negotiations with contractual counterparts if any arise, ensuring that Invenergy's interests are protected and upheld.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing annual budgets for the projects and perform periodic variance analyses

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and project agreements including the Power Purchase Agreements, Operating Agreements, Credit Agreements and Operations and Maintenance Agreements
  • Lead dispute negotiations if they arise with contractual counterparts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5 years of experience in a similar function and industry, including but not limited to finance, accounting, FP&A, commercial management, project management, and consulting in industries such as energy, utilities, construction, manufacturing and real estate required
  • Strong analytical, logical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience writing, negotiating, and managing contracts
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and solve complex problems
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with standard financial metrics and analyses (NPV, IRR, DCF models) preferred
  • Effective communicator and collaborator
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the renewable energy industry highly preferred
  • Master's Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or Engineering
