About the position

The Asset Protection Agent (APA) at Lowe's is responsible for coaching and training store associates on theft deterrence, monitoring store activities, and preventing inventory shrinkage. This role involves investigating criminal activities and supporting compliance with company policies and legal regulations. The APA collaborates with leadership to address external theft issues and may need to respond to potentially violent situations, requiring quick decision-making and composure.

Responsibilities

• Coach and train store associates and leaders on identifying and deterring external theft.
• Monitor merchandise, customer, and associate activity, reporting infractions to leadership.
• Prevent inventory shrinkage and deter criminal activity.
• Coordinate with senior management to identify key merchandise and stores impacted by theft.
• Leverage data and resources to create plans addressing theft exposures.
• Investigate and resolve issues related to criminal activity in accordance with laws and company policy.
• Support investigations of company policies and procedures as required.

Requirements

• Associates Degree in Psychology or Criminal Justice OR High School Diploma/equivalent with 1 year relevant work experience.
• Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and lifting up to 25 pounds without assistance.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelors Degree in Business, Criminal Justice, Safety, or related field.
• Experience conducting retail investigations.
• Experience using physical security systems (e.g., CCTV, EAS).
• Experience with Organized Crime investigations.
• National certified training program (e.g., Wicklander-Zuwalski or Reed training).
• Professional accreditation (e.g., APQ, APC) or equivalent experience.
