About the position

The Asset Protection Detective at Macy's is responsible for utilizing advanced technology and analytics to reduce shortages and protect company assets. This role involves building relationships with store teams and law enforcement, ensuring a safe shopping environment, and receiving expert training to develop skills in asset protection.

Responsibilities

• Use surveillance techniques to identify and apprehend shoplifters and dishonest employees.
• Leverage de-escalation tools to maintain a safe environment for customers and colleagues.
• Recover stolen merchandise and provide statements and evidence for investigations.
• Prepare reports on theft incidents, investigations, and audits.
• Maintain compliance with laws and company policies regarding apprehensions and evidence preservation.
• Build partnerships with store colleagues and law enforcement agencies.
• Testify in court for criminal and civil cases as needed.
• Train colleagues on protocols to protect company assets.
• Respond to alarm conditions and work on special assignments.
• Facilitate first aid for customers and colleagues.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of customers and peers.
• Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Resourceful self-starter who can adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required licenses, trainings, and certifications.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in loss prevention or security roles.
