About the position

The Asset Protection Detective at Macy's is responsible for utilizing advanced technology and analytics to reduce shortages and protect company assets. This role involves building relationships with store teams and law enforcement to maintain a safe shopping environment while preventing theft and dishonest activities.

Responsibilities

• Use surveillance techniques to identify and apprehend shoplifters and dishonest employees.
• Leverage de-escalation tools to ensure a safe environment for customers and colleagues.
• Recover stolen merchandise and provide evidence for investigations.
• Prepare reports on theft incidents, investigations, and audits.
• Maintain compliance with laws and company policies regarding apprehensions and evidence preservation.
• Build partnerships with store colleagues and law enforcement agencies.
• Testify in court for criminal and civil cases as needed.
• Train colleagues on asset protection protocols.
• Respond to alarm conditions and participate in special assignments.
• Facilitate first aid for customers and colleagues.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required licenses, trainings, and certifications.
• Flexible availability including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong communication skills to interact with diverse groups of customers and peers.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Resourceful self-starter who can adapt to changing priorities.

Nice-to-haves
