About the position

The Store Asset Protection Manager is responsible for overseeing the Asset Protection and shortage control programs within the store. This role focuses on meeting or exceeding shortage goals, guiding investigations, training staff, and addressing issues related to theft and loss prevention. The manager serves as the primary liaison between the store and the Regional Asset Protection Manager, ensuring effective communication and compliance with company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the Asset Protection and shortage control programs for the store.
  • Ensure programs to prevent and detect internal theft are followed.
  • Direct and assist the store with investigations, interviews, and case procedures.
  • Regularly review Asset Protection exception reports and other applicable reports.
  • Review cash discrepancies to maintain compliance with allowable guidelines.
  • Assist and direct store management for compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Install covert cameras proficiently.
  • Ensure programs to deter and prevent external theft are followed.
  • Promote associate awareness through customer approach programs.
  • Ensure all associates receive Asset Protection awareness training.
  • Distribute Traditions of Excellence material properly.
  • Train associates on emergency procedures such as robbery and fire.
  • Actively participate in shortage reduction programs.
  • Monitor and review paperwork systems to prevent shortages due to errors.
  • Train store management on the utilization of paperwork reports.
  • Oversee store shortage committees for compliance and effectiveness.
  • Ensure follow-up on price accuracy initiatives.
  • Interview Asset Protection candidates and supervise their training.
  • Document and communicate all Asset Protection activities and incidents in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Two-year college degree and/or two years of retail Asset Protection experience.
  • Familiarity with standard PCs and business software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc.).
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment such as phones, computers, and calculators.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of high shortage departments.
  • Experience in conducting investigations and interviews.
