About the position

The Credit Risk Associate position at JPMorgan Private Bank involves managing client credit within the Private Bank portfolio, specifically focusing on hedge funds, venture capital, and private equity clients. This role is crucial for maintaining the firm's resilience by anticipating risks and providing expert judgment to address challenges that affect the company and its clients. The position emphasizes a culture of innovation and excellence in risk management and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage credit risk management on the Credit Risk portfolio focused on Hedge Funds and Individuals, FIG, Management Companies and Financial Sponsors related to Venture Capital and Private Equity Sponsors.
  • Manage Structured Custom Credit facilities including Fund Finance, Private Equity Co-Invest, Management Companies, Hedge Fund Collateral, Unsecured, and Artwork.
  • Approve credit risk exposure relating to the client base within authorized limits.
  • Maintain project management which includes collaborating with team members across Lines of Business (LOBs) and businesses.
  • Provide assignment of risk ratings, Loss Given Default (LGDs), and other risk metrics across the portfolio and understand Global Wealth Management Credit Risk appetite on wholesale loans, mortgages, OTC products and others.
  • Identify and monitor concentrations, trends and themes in the portfolio, and direct the preparation of Portfolio Reviews and ensure that Risk exceptions in the portfolio are appropriately managed and escalated as required.
  • Engage with Credit Middle Office as needed.
  • Partner with the Business to build a culture of Risk discipline across the organization and work closely with the Underwriter team to build an integrated approach to making credit decisions that incorporates underwriter input.
  • Work with Lending Solutions on new products and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Experience in credit risk management, particularly in wealth management or financial institutions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess credit risk and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with various teams and stakeholders.
  • Project management experience, particularly in financial services.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of hedge funds, venture capital, and private equity sectors.
  • Familiarity with credit risk metrics and portfolio management.
