About the position

The Managed Strategies Team within Asset & Wealth Management (AWM) at Goldman Sachs is responsible for providing discretionary solutions offerings for Private Wealth Management (PWM) clients. This team manages approximately $50 billion in assets globally and focuses on delivering liquid, bespoke, actively managed investment opportunities through separately managed accounts. The team is currently seeking an Analyst to join the Portfolio Management and Trading team, specifically aligned with the discretionary option overlay business. This role involves close collaboration with team members to manage and trade option-based strategies, contributing to the ongoing development of the team's offerings and participating in technology projects aimed at enhancing risk management infrastructure as the business scales. The Analyst will also engage with various stakeholders, including strat teams, external brokers, compliance, and legal, to define and specify business requirements moving forward. In this role, the Analyst will actively manage option portfolios alongside senior portfolio managers and traders, executing and booking option trades across various markets, including OTC, listed, Index, and Single Stock. Daily responsibilities will include reviewing current option positions and risks, discussing trade ideas, and managing relationships with internal teams such as compliance, legal, operations, technology, and sales, as well as external broker-dealers. The Analyst will be responsible for communicating strategy updates and recommendations, and will work on diverse projects that may involve developing new strategies, streamlining processes, and improving risk management, as well as handling ad-hoc deliverables and analyses as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Actively manage option portfolios alongside senior portfolio managers and traders.
  • Execute and book option trades across different markets: OTC, listed, Index, and Single Stock.
  • Conduct daily reviews of current option positions and risks, discussing trade ideas.
  • Manage relationships with internal teams (compliance, legal, operations, technology, strats, sales) and external broker-dealers.
  • Communicate strategy updates and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Work on projects such as developing new strategies, streamlining processes, and improving risk management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience.
  • 0 to 2 years of capital markets experience.
  • Strong interest in Equity Derivatives and Risk Management.
  • Academic background in a quantitative subject is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Motivated team player who can contribute in a cohesive team environment.
  • Independent thinker who is logical and analytical.
  • SIE, Series 7 and Series 63 must be obtained within 3 months of employment.
