7NEWS in Boston is seeking a motivated assignment editor who thrives in a fast-paced, breaking news environment. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously. This role is crucial for identifying the most important and compelling stories of the day, as well as deploying 7NEWS crews and resources to ensure optimal coverage. The assignment editor will be responsible for making quick decisions and adjustments in response to last-minute changes, demonstrating effective communication skills and a strong commitment to quality journalism. This position is full-time and requires the candidate to work 100% on-site at the station's downtown Boston office.

Responsibilities

• Identify and prioritize the most important and compelling news stories of the day.
• Deploy 7NEWS crews and resources for optimal coverage of breaking news.
• Manage last-minute changes and adjustments in coverage plans.
• Communicate effectively with reporters, producers, and other team members.
• Ensure a high standard of quality journalism is maintained in all coverage.

Requirements

• A minimum of two years of assignment desk experience preferred.
• Strong detail orientation and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Knowledge of Boston and New England is a plus.
