About the position

We are seeking a full-time Assignment Editor to join our market-leading news team in Coachella Valley. This role is crucial for developing content across our ABC, CBS, FOX, and Telemundo affiliate station platforms. The Assignment Editor will be responsible for managing the logistics of news coverage, ensuring that our news team operates efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, multi-platform environment. This position requires a proactive approach to generating hard news enterprise story ideas and planning for future coverage, which is essential for maintaining our competitive edge in the industry. In this role, the Assignment Editor will prepare and publish multi-media content on our digital platforms, including our website, social media channels, and mobile app. The successful candidate will organize incoming news content, which includes news wires, police radios, news releases, and tips from various sources. Effective communication is key, as the Assignment Editor will need to gather facts and schedule interviews with various contacts. Collaboration with the news team is vital, and the Assignment Editor will also be expected to complete other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the newsroom. Qualified candidates should possess the ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced, multi-platform, research-driven newsroom. Critical thinking skills, resourcefulness, and attention to detail are essential traits for this position. The ideal candidate will demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills and be proficient in Content Management Systems and digital publishing tools. A solid understanding of editorial news judgment is also required to ensure the quality and relevance of the news content produced.
