About the position
The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in ESL/Multilingual Education to contribute to the College of Health, Education and Social Welfare. This role involves preparing future teachers and collaborating with practicing educators at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will enhance the university's inclusive teaching efforts and foster an educational environment that celebrates diverse identities and cultural backgrounds.
Responsibilities
- Teach lower and upper-level foundation and methods courses in ESL/Bilingual/Multilingual Education, both online and in person.
- Demonstrate effective understanding of teacher preparation processes in ESL/Bilingual/Multilingual Education.
- Supervise students in field-based placements.
- Implement inclusive instructional strategies to support students from underrepresented and first-generation backgrounds.
- Develop a strong research program involving collaboration with students and/or faculty.
- Advise and mentor students.
- Perform scholarly activities consistent with rank.
- Engage in institutional and community service.
- Contribute to ongoing program development.
- Establish professional relationships with PK-12 schools and community organizations.
Requirements
- Earned doctorate in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or closely related field, with an emphasis in ESL/Bilingual/Multilingual Education preferred.
- Expertise and/or experience in Teacher Education, preferably in ESL/Bilingual/Multilingual Education.
- 5 years of successful teaching in a PK-12 educational setting, preferably in ESL/Bilingual/Multilingual Education, and teacher licensure.
- Knowledge of teacher preparation processes related to preparing ESL/Bilingual/Multilingual educators.
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship.
Nice-to-haves
- ABD candidates will be considered, but an earned doctorate is necessary for contract renewal.
