About the position

The Assistant Admin - Business Administrator at the University of Houston plays a crucial role in supporting the administration of the college's operations, particularly in human resources and administrative functions. This position involves assisting the Business Administrator in managing complex administrative tasks, facilitating communication, and ensuring compliance with college policies. The role also includes providing support to the Office of the Dean and overseeing staff in the absence of the Business Administrator.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the management of the College's human resources and recommends personnel actions.
  • Manages and audits the processing of human resource and payroll transactions.
  • Assists management with the implementation of organizational decisions.
  • Facilitates coordination of problem resolution, communication, and document preparation with departmental personnel.
  • Manages the administrative functions for the Office of the Dean, including supervision of staff.
  • Monitors the administrative performance of select departments and centers reporting to the Office of the Dean.
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of college policies and procedures; trains staff to comply with these guidelines.
  • Assists with aspects of sponsored research administration and oversight.
  • Coordinates communications with internal and external constituents, including newsletters and website content.
  • Serves in the absence of the College Business Administrator and certifies documents.

Requirements

  • A formal, directly job-related 4-year degree from a college or university or equivalent specialized training.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.

  • Knowledge of sponsored research administration.
