About the position

The Assistant Ag Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the management and maintenance of agricultural equipment and operations necessary for the growing and shipping processes in Salinas, CA. This role includes managing labor, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and tracking operational equipment. The position is designed as a growth opportunity towards becoming the Ag Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain agriculture equipment and operations for growing and shipping.
• Oversee labor necessary for growing and operations functions, including managing farm labor contractor relationships.
• Review and approve timesheets and invoices, ensuring compliance with wage and hour regulations.
• Ensure food and industrial safety compliance in the fields.
• Manage asset tracking for operational equipment.
• Work weekends as required and be available for travel.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or a related field.
• General farming knowledge and supervisor/management experience.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate a strong work ethic.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with transplantors, plantors, spray equipment, and automated thinners.
• Knowledge of organics and related regulatory issues.
